If he gave permission, I don't see how I'm "ripping off" anything. "ripping off" would suggest that i was claiming that I did them myself.

I still consider using such beautiful weapon sprites in a less-than-good mod a bad idea.

Generally, that is not a mindset you would like to keep on these forums. Also, Eriance doesn't give a flying crap turd about people using his sprites. Infact, I think he likes it as long as he gets credit. Hell, I even gave Xaser some credit because I used his DECORATE for my own weapons, albeit modified.

Xtyfe, keep up the good work. Seems like a nice big step. :D

Shouldn't the rocket itself do Kinetic damage, and have the explosion itself inflict the Fire damage?

Also: Archviles that do rocket damage are totally unfair. That's basically saying "If you can't get to cover in time YOU DIE. NO SAVING THROW." :P

.. and? The fun fact is, you named the more commonly known wads. Lets go back into the past with Wild Weasel's The Stranger. Maybe even more so with the DeHacked modifications. Oh, don't forget ICD-SE for the EDGE Source Port.

Good point, If I have it spawn another actor that would act as the explosion when it hits something It should be able to do that.

Well, isn't that what people usually do anyways when they see one :P kind of the piss your pants scared type reaction. Hmm, I actually just had an idea on how I could change their attack up which might make it a little more fair.

You are digging yourself such a hole that I'm amazed you can climb back out of it to say your piece. Just because a mod concept has been done before doesn't mean that someone else should not be allowed to do it themselves. Hell, there have been countless Wolfenstein-themed mods, but that didn't stop me from making Weasel Presents Nazis, did it? Just because Beautiful Doom existed before didn't stop Sergeant Mark IV from making Brutal Doom, et cetera.

As far as the "waaah, you ripped off Eriance's sprites" thing, if Eriance has already implied permission, what's the big deal? As long as the author of this mod makes sure to unambiguously give Eriance the credit for all these awesome sprites, there should be no conflict. Right?

This prevalent attitude is what keeps me continually on the brink of giving up modding (for the public) altogether. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

(Even worse when it does a complete turnabout and praises the latest "TC" which attempts to remake some other game on an engine that isn't suited for it.)

I have seen this so many times on gaming mod forums, you can't give into this sort of thing. I care nothing for people who aren't mature enough to take part in them.
