Re: Brütal Doom v0.16 - Cruelty Bonus!

Well, I've managed to edit the PK3 using SLADE. I removed the imp's melee attack by commenting out the entries for MELEE and MELEE2. I also toned the fireball back down to a speed of 10, rather than 16. Would anybody know how to make the zombiemen slower and stupider again? I don't really understand the missile code, nor do I know how Doom makes hitscan enemies miss periodically.

Thanks in advance!

e: Nevermind again! It looks like it's as simple as deleting the .pk3's code for MISSILE and SPECIALATTACK. In the absence of any code there, it seems to go back to the default behavior...

I was just checking out the Particle Fire Enhancer Mod (v0.8) and thought some fx are outstanding. Like the cacodemons attack the bfg, teleporter etc.

trouble is the mod won't work with Brutaldoom. Ive tried SLADE this morning but i dont think its possible to mix and match unless you know what is what...any advice? I think the fire enhancer would make brütal doom that much more beautiful...

Optimus, here is a modification of the original pistol mod to have it along side the rifle. You start with the pistol and get the rifle from zombiemen.

You might want to get SLADE http://slade.mancubus.net/, and poke around for yourself. Lots of small things are easy to do. I say this because you might want to switch around the order of the rifle and pistol so that the pistol comes up first when you press 2, which is done in the KEYCONF file.
In this case I just commented out the code that makes zombiemen drop clips instead of rifles, then added the rifle to the KEYCONF.

EDIT:
Here's the dual pistols with finger trigger speeds. That is to say they fire pretty much as fast as you click, like the single pistol, but a bit less accurately. Makes more sense and is better balanced along side the rifle now. No altfire.

I think Brutal Doom (if not something incredibly similar) may have just been featured on today's episode of the Jace Hall Show.

It's actually a great show, but yeah. Those are over-excited teenage boys (or maybe they're 10 or 11?). They did the same thing with footage of the Duke Nukem Forever proto build, just to announce the game was still being made.

EDIT: More footage of the mod at 7:13.

That actually appears to be an earlier version of Brutal Doom. And considering this mod is being featured on such a high profile show, I wouldn't be surprised if G4 featured this mod sometime.

That's at least 0.11. That Chaingunner fatality had worse sprites before then.

Wouldn't it make more sense that the eye would count in that regard. Or better yet, if you shot its eyeball, it would fly around blindly, spitting out fireballs in every random direction.

... I'm pretty sure his head would count for a headshot. Not his... Eye.....

Cacodemons are big fat round gass-bags. So It's hard to tell if he even has a head for that matter. I think that sprite-sheet up there is about as close as we're going to get.

OR EVEN BETTER! You could shoot his eyeball out of it's socket, and it will roll around on the ground for you to pick up and BLUDGEON THE CACODEMON TO DEATH WITH!
