Hi, anybody knows how to disable the scretching noise you hear when near torches?
Its proper annoying and some maps that make heavy use of torches its constantly on the background driving me insane.
Please tell how to get rid of it.

Wait a minute so is it a glitch and not the sound they should make?
You know how to solve it without disabling the effect?
I tried everything under the sound options in gzdoom..no dice.

Yup, An annoying glitch,

You have to edit the WAD with Slade3. Can be a bit tricky for the amateur. I know, I once was.

would you also know how to add dynamic lights to the mancubus? I suppose its to do with GLDEF?

Uhm..were you replying to me?
I tried commenting out the lines in the TORCHES file and replace it inside the archive and it crashes the game with an error when I load a saved game.
But in any case why hasnt this been fixed by the mod developer?
Apparently its not new, it has been reported long ago then why isnt it fixed properly?

Hmm, that's weird...
It hasn't been fixed because there's so few with the problem. And since there's workarounds for it, Sarge (the dev) isn't prioritizing the bug first hand.

Where do I find a working fix then?
Commenting out the lines with 'playsound' in the torch file doesnt work.
Another guy in a post before the one you linked said 'I FIXED IT' but he didnt fix squat, by using his 'fix' the sound plays properly once then when you get away from the torch model it stops playing but doesnt restart again when you go back in range.

Also, how is it possible that some people dont have it?
Im using gzdoom, not some weird custom made source port.

If this doesn't solve it, nothing will. This will fix the sounds and keeping them.

And also, I can't understand so few have it either. And I'm getting kind off annoyed that Sarge didn't fix it in 0.16 (yes, it's been around since 0.15!)

so few? I thought everybody has the clicking torches! :)
and i dont think one can demand to fix all the bugs on a free (let me stress free) mod. Especially one that is so complex as BD.

EDIT: fixed it myself, thanks Ghostbreed!
(might as well edit some sounds while im at it, the DOOMGUY pain grunts are driving me insane)

Fixed it how?
By using the alternative TORCHES file?
Did you notice the sound plays only once and then never plays again even when you are near?
I dont demand to fix all the bugs, dont even bother try putting it like that, but its annoying as hell, and has been knwn to be there for a long time.

no. i went with slade3 inside the PK3 BD file and pasted the txt over the old torches entry.
just tested level22 lots of torches - sound is fine.

Well I did the exact thing with slade editor now, and it only plays the sound once for some reason.
Once I get to some distance from the torches it stops playing then when I return in range it doesnt restart.
Better than nothing, as it still removes the glitch ticking spam, but it aint a proper fix.
