I hesitated hard posting this, seems there's a few zombie works in progress these days that get announced and then never get finished etc. Also this is the first work I've posted for the general public to see and make suggestions on so just try not to be a grumpy guss when posting on this okay? . Some people are just obsessed with zombies, I'm one of them.
This is for zdoom 2.3.1 (doom 2)
Basically the idea behind this wad is you're a marine dropped into a city ravaged by an airborne zombie infection, your job is to rescue people from a badly defended evacuation block of the city. You have to get out alive with a few straggling evacuees and your rescue comes in 3 days. What you do for those 3 days is pretty much up to you. During the day you'll gather ammo and health and encounter wandering zombies. During the night you'll hide pretty much anywhere you want and shoot at hordes of oncoming runners (by which I mean zombies, not human joggers). The evacuees help you, however, in the way that you can spawn them wherever you want and they will become your stationary gunners. You can build a barricade (a system which I'm working on implementing in more than just the one current place) and you have mines as well.
Implemented ____
Spoiler:
-A day and night time timer which warns you to get inside a minute before dark (one day=6 mins & one night=6 mins apart from the first day which leaves you a minute to get inside and set up defenses).
-3 enemy types
-2 custom weapons one of which is by TheDarkArchon from the weapons resource wad which I give full credit to for the Automatic Shotgun.
-A plausible barricading system
-An explorable city block with at least 2 enterable buildings
-An AI stationary gunner placement system
-An enemy spawning system based on what specific sector you are in. (enemies are the gunner survivor, the armored zombie, and the running zombie)
-The infection/bleeding system (you go below 75 health and you begin bleeding, think of the zombie infection as if it were AIDS/Haemophilia combined, it technically doesn't kill you by itself but makes you extremely brittle and medically dependent)
-A radio you can shoot the front part of to stop at the beginning (it's all russian sounding gibberish and gunfire sounds, just thought I'd let you know how to deactivate it).
Need help/suggestions/info for____
Spoiler:
-Sprites (I need to know if it's okay to use modified doom sprites in the manner I'm intending here, who's permission I need etc, other suggestions are welcome as long as they're polite , if you've got some civillian/zombie sprites you wanna throw me as well I might be keen to use them, I've sprited 3 quarters of a civillian zombie so far but I'd like to expand my enemy base a bit if I've got time)
-Mapping (I want suggestions for stuff/buildings you'd find in your average city block, it's okay if your suggestion is a bit out there in fact try to make it cool, even layout advice is good)
-Textures (My skill with textures has not reached it's full potential, any advice there is appreciated)
- Possibly programming, but you can just generalize there and I'll figure out the nuts and bolts (my problem is with my item/ally placement system, if you put something in a wall you can't retrieve or use it which is annoying when defending a narrow hallway or whatever and you try to place a survivor close to the wall)
- Any other suggestions or cool ideas you might have are welcome, but keep it simple yet genius, I want to release the finished thing around newyear 2009 if I can.
_IMPORTANT_ Controls and stuff you need to know that I forgot to put in my readme for (This is temporary till I can get to a computer which uploads things properly)
Spoiler:
Controls: Are in the controls list under 'Zombie Killzorz'
-you can place survivors, it uses 20 cell ammo which you get back if you press recall and your survivors are STILL ALIVE (you start with 60 cell ammo, you're slower when carrying survivors)
-recall survivors (you get your cell ammo back and they are at full health when you place them again)
-place mines (you get 4 of those based on your rocket ammo and you can't recall them)
-detonate mines (useful for the horde right after they break the barricades, all placed mines explode)
In the getmoore books store where you start you pick up the blue key to spawn the barricade
There's an ammo store to the north of the map, it's intended to be an important location, it's got a surprise in it.
You can enter the big building in the middle of the map, entrance is on the west side, shoot the control panel once inside to gain access to a store room with an elevator, this is where the majority of the health is on the 5 different floors.
The enemy with the helmet that walks around in the day can only be effectively killed by a bloody pointy thing (it's your first weapon, I think it replaces the fist) it drops ammo.
Difficulties: are based on ammo pickup multiplication and the damage that attacks do to you. Zombie hunter is normal.
My advice is it's best not to ask about the strange and random things that might be in there now, this was actually going to be an alien wad originally ps, I'm a noob so sorry in advance if I break any forum rules or guidelines, I did read them, I'm gonna try to post screenshots again later if anyone wants to give me tips on how to do it properly.
