Toe's PlayGround, a deathmatch weapon mod

Toe's PlayGround, a deathmatch weapon mod

I love weapon mods, but I have rarely encountered one that is balanced correctly for deathmatch play, so I thought I would have a go, I've recycled some stuff that has been sitting in my modding folders to create this, a selection of simple but satisfying weapons.

Weapon replacements:

Fist: Not done yet, probably will add my own version of punching here
Pistol: HacX Pistol - fires faster with slightly more damaging bullets - bouncing bullets are planned
Shotgun - not done yet
SuperShotgun - reliable powerful pump action shotgun - might reduce power of this and use it as regular shotgun replacement, and develop a Nailgun for SSG replacement instead.
Chaingun - Machinegun, faster but wider spread
RocketLauncher - not done yet - yet to think of an interesting idea for this
PlasmaRifle - PlasmaBeam, focused beam of plasma vapourises opponents, only leaving charred skeletons behind.
BFG9000 - BFG8000, an earlier prototype, fires smaller extremely fast balls of plasma that explode upon impact, no rays this time though.
Chainsaw - not done yet, 'powerclaw' lunge attack planned

The mod also features insane gibbage, recycled from my now dead gore mod. :)

Of course, I plan on redoing most pickups so they are different, adding new sprites and sounds etc.

Any ideas, thoughts, critisisms would be appreciated, I know most of you are not avid deathmatchers but you certainly know your way round weapon mods. :wink:

Wow, for some reason, the HacX pistol looks so badass under a Doomguy hand. :P

Neat weapon ideas, and I like the doomguy's Hacx pistol! I have almost no deathmatch experience,
so I have no idea how to balance gameplay for a deathmatch mod. I guess player speed really becomes a factor, I'm used to slow monsters.


Anyhow, I went ahead and made you a Nailgun for a SSG replacement.

It's nice, but it's not exactly the same art style as the original Doom, but I suppose it could work. :P

some of the weapons are good, but i have a idea for a nail gun (not the quake nail gun)

That pump-action nailgun looks pretty cool, Joey. It looks like a more modern version of those old pump-action rifles, too.

Actually I just think he made a pickup for the shotgun, I hadn'y got round to adding one yet, I was going to rummage through the weapons resource wad for one, but this one looks better, thanks :)
I was going for a quake 3 style Nailgun, that fires a cluster of nails, as this would be suitable for a SSG replacement, but if you have other ideas just let me know :)
