[WIP] Heretic Puzzle World (Level 2 Now available Page 1)

Post by Evil Space Tomato »

Hi everyone I am working on an episode of heretic based solely around puzzles instead of fighting. I am thinking that it would probably be fun to release the levels one at a time as I finish them.

Here are some screen shots from the first level.

I can't seem to figure out how to do the first puzzle. There's three stones but two switches, and I can't figure out which ones should be changed. :|

There are 4 switches, 2 on each side and if you still dont get it you can look at the spoilers

Those are fun. I love the eyeball puzzle, quite simple but nice. (Those eyeballs are just too cute, I want one as a pet.)

Realy nice. Some puzzles were confusing but overall I liked it very much. I will tell you when I will need some puzzles in some map.

I just played through this and I thought it was pretty good. I, too, really liked the eyeball puzzles.

Didn't Ravensoft do one in the mid 1990s? IIRC it was called "Hexen" or something like that :P

Seriously, for what it is it looks good... but I absolutely HATE puzzles, so I won't be playing it  I gave up on HeXen in 1997 because I got fed up of killing every demon in sight, then spending 200 years finding yet another bloody key or switch before I could get to kill any more demons.

I did enjoy one HeXen WAD though because it was light on the puzzles and heavy on the monsters. Wish I could remember which one it was.

Definitely an interesting approach of editing for Heretic. I like it but make sure to design the puzzles solvable and intuitive.

I hated the many of the puzzles in Hexen too.

I am trying to make the puzzles like Myst so that you have to do a bit of skull scratching to solve them without being to obtuse.

The wait is over for level 2 (for those who don’t hate me for making boring puzzle levels)
This level will be a bit harder than the last one
