Will it look like the FEAR 2 laser gun? I hope it doesn't, that thing looked stupid.

This has prolly been answered before, or has a really obvious solution, but why is this mod in pieces? It's a bunch of WAD files for different parts, like weapons and items, instead of all together. Am I REALLY gonna have to put it together myself in order to play?

No. Just drag the .zip file onto zdoom.exe/gzdoom.exe to run it.

If that's the intended final distribution, Eri had better rename it to .pk3 so people won't try and extract it. :P

After years of work, I've finally run out of steam for DE. As such, I've decided to abandon it from further development. I will be graduating within a few months, and will either need to find a job in the BioTech industry or go to graduate school (or, med school if I managed to raise my GPA by 0.1 :/). With all these things that are more important, my interest in DE has finally died. It was a great run while it lasted, and I've learned from the the several iterations I've made of DE. Sadly, the progress on DE was generally unsatisfactory. Given the one-man team I had, I think this is as far as I can practically take it without some really heavy dedication. And feeding off the Doom storyline and theme for my project really didn't allow me to do everything I wanted without making it un-doomy.

That said, all resources from DE will now be open to Creative Commons usage (hopefully with substantial edits). Freedoom, personal projects, etc, may use my resources freely. Note that not everything found within the DE wads are made from scratch, or by me. To be safe, ask me and make sure they are indeed something original.

All monsters that were near completion before I decided to finally dump this project will be finished [eventually] and uploaded. These include the handful of Episode 3 monsters, and some of the Hellforge versions of the Doom 2 monsters (i only need to finish 1 more rotation of the Aracknight, and yet it's been sitting unfinished for months).

I've been working on a new project for the past several months that I feel allows me more creative freedom, and the scope of which isn't as overwhelmingly ambitious as DE was. I'll have screenshots and maybe youtube videos up within a couple of months, hopefully. Thank you all for the support for DE, but I think it's a good time as ever for it to die now. :P

Damn... hate to hear this, though I know it's not a decision you've taken lightly. It was ambitious for sure. :P

Hopefully the new project won't be so taxing on you, especially given the courseload you seem to take on. Best of luck in the future, sir. :)

What Xaser said. I'm saddened by this, but at the same time I know exactly what it's like to be at a complete creative standstill with something you've previously put hours of adoring work into. Sometimes we do need to set things aside completely, especially when our life priorities change over time.

What Demon Eclipse became, even if not a finished product, was still a major inspiration to me, and I bet quite a few others. It's one of the most impressive one-man projects I've ever had the pleasure to play. You're an awesome artist who's put out a ton of highly respectable work, and you'll definitely go far with the talent that you have. I sorta hope you won't be quitting the Doom scene entirely, but of course that's your call. Best of luck with the new project (is it Doom?), and with the real life stuff, Eriance. Thanks a ton for everything you've done regarding this project, and regarding all the others you contributed to. :yup:

Cheers! 8-)

By joining the other posters before me in the thread, I must admit it's sad to see this ambitious, potentially-shining project die. However, I don't think this is something I'd define "unaccomplished": you've created a lot of the best graphical resources now available to the DOOM modding community, therefore I'd say that DE somehow "lives on" in many people's creations (including several of mine ).

Good luck with your new project, then! :D

Also, what you said about the licensing of your work is great! This shall probably represent a big, big chance for FreeDOOM (and Blasphemer, too?) to become a real free IWAD on par with the commercial one, quality-wise... :!:
