Echo Path

No I didn't copy it from anything, I just made it up as it summarizes the story behind Echo Path :P

Echo Path is a gothic themed weapon mod for Doom(2) it will replace all enemies (or upgrade them), weapons, and I'm also upgrading most of the props (mostly just the torches and lamps) :)
Echo path is about 4 demons (or fallen angels) that are trying to redeem themselves, or so that they can get something out of it (Example: Lilith suffers from having her children die every day, so if she follows the "Echo Path" to redemption, maybe her children won't constantly die :mrgreen: )

Echo Path features:
-4 classes to play
-New weapons
-New enemies
-New gore system (hope you don't mind Nash, but I upgraded Nash gore to be more "chunky" :roll: )
-New effects
-New Items

(Planned features, but they may not happen)
-Class specific guns (example, if your one of 2 classes, you get one shotgun, the other 2 classes get a different shotgun, this is to add replay value)
-Maybe replace (or upgrade) all props

Here's a secret early access to my never finished mod "Echo Path" ...it's about 90% done, it's just missing the extra goodies I wanted to add, some item replacements, and there are a few hiccups/bugs I never got around to fixing. Also, I apologize for not including a credits file. But that will be included when I properly release Echo Path (possibly with a few last fixes)...enjoy and congratulations on finding this (kind of well) hidden secret!!!

What an interesting choice of weapon sprites...
I like the new implemented reloading for the D3 machine gun, and the addition of the System Shock pistol (Bleedin' finally someone puts that to good use.)


(Edit: I failed to realise that a weapon mod most likely won't add any levels.)


Well it looks incredibly nice so far... but I suppose I say that to every mod now, that I like.
I suppose the graphics and sound effects is what really interests me.
... but... that's... the general purpose of a weapon mod and-so-on isn't it...?

while i really like the plot and enemies in Echo Path, i have to ask, if they're fallen angels why not use demonic or pseudo-sacred weapons instead of your every day guns?

mind you, i love your choice of sprites and sounds and stuff, i'm just thinking you could add more variety to the pack, besides, there are virtually NO "mystical" weapon mods for Doom, and that makes me sad as a HeXen junkie :?

I totally agree my friend (I was once thinking about doing a Doom mod with strange weapons like in American Mcgee's Alice :P ) but think of it this way...in order for a fallen angel to redeem themself, they must give up their demonic side, this includes their powers (which would also explain why these simple humans and demons can hurt them :wink: )

I was thinking about making the bfg replacement a sacred book that would give them back some type of power :3: but I would have to discuss this with my partner :mrgreen:

please do! if not, you could just make an entirely new project with mystical weapons i guess :wink:

So, lemme get this straight.

The Martyr got booted off of the top and now you're racing to release Echo Path earlier, is that right?

Eh, guess we'll have to wait longer for a decent Strife wad.

Keep reviewing the Echo Path video every so many days and I gotta admit it's still looking awesome >.>:

Decided to choose a new background for the menu, a new menu song, and changed the menu graphics :mrgreen:

I plan on making Echo Path a bit more spicy by making enemies drop 3 different kinds of souls, and when you collect a certain number of a certain kind of soul you'll get rewarded with either super health or armor. I'm still trying to figure out what I could use as a 3rd bonus, any ideas??? (I don't want to put in a feature that I don't really have a solid idea for yet)

-Rocket Launcher replaced
-Removed texture glow effect (was causing GZDoom to crash)
-More enemies replaced!
-Just the BFG, Chainsaw, and fist left to replace (any other weapon would be extra weapons dropped by dead enemies)

How about a special upgrade for a melee weapon that makes it awesome? I'm not sure what the weapons list is at the moment, but maybe just something like faster reloads, stronger attacks, etc. etc. for weapons in general?

I'm still trying to figure out what I could use as a 3rd bonus, any ideas??? (I don't want to put in a feature that I don't really have a solid idea for yet)
Here's a few. Most of these would be better as temporary power-ups, like abilities you can turn on off, and then expend additional ammo/another resource for added effects.

Player-Related:
Expanded Berserk Pack:
Doesn't refill health like the original, but increases both strength & speed of player. Due to its powerful nature, the user will be damaged slightly and move at a more sluggish pace after the Pack has worn off.
Demonsphere:
Player will slowly lose health while active, and must relenquish the effects of any worn armor, but a percentage of damage done to enemies will be absorbed by the player as health.

Gun-Related:
Guns Akimbo
Reflective Rounds
Gravity Rounds:
When activated with small/medium weapons, increases knockback. When activated with big weapons, fires a mini black hole that drags enemies together, does damage, etc.
Silent Rounds
Traitorous Rounds:
Makes other enemies attack the enemy hit by it.
Fragmentary Rounds
Tracker Rounds:
Fire a tracking round at an enemy, than subsequent rounds will home in, piercing/evading other enemies, bouncing off walls, etc, till they find their target.
Freeze Rounds
Stun Rounds
Viral Rounds:
Infects a potent viral pathogen on impact, turning the affected enemy into a walking time bomb. Once the enemy has reached 100% infection, it explodes, coating surrounding enemies (and you, if you're not careful) in a corrosive ooze.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I'm working on the "Zero Pack", it will include...

- The Martyr beta ( the only thing that's left out is the fixed shops and the Sigil replacement)
- Echo Path beta :mrgreen:
- An old cancelled mod of mine called Death and Decay (I'll need to update it though before it's ready)

I'll post a batch of screen shots from all 3 mods as soon as my internet get's better because right now it's pretty crappy :?

Echo Path updates...

-The 3rd "bonus has been chosen! Each class will have their own demonic powers, but they don't have any demonic energy to use them, so a little like exp, killing enemies will get you this energy (the harder the enemy the more energy :twisted:) when the energy bar is filled you will gain all you demonic energy back so you can use your powers, but note that you have to refill the energy bar in order to gain back your demonic energy again, so spend wisely :lol:
-One more class to complete
-HP/AP and demonic energy bonuses are scripted in via decorate so it won't clash with any map's ACS coding
-BFG, chainsaw, and fist still need to be replaced (not to mention I need to create the magical "weapons" :wink: )

The main issue in Echo Path currently, is that I don't have any good Gothic themed player sprites for the 4 classes, if anybody knows some good ones, please let me know :) (or if they want to make them themselves, I'll pay in beta testing :mrgreen: , just note that the characters are wearing a black leather jacket)

Just wanted to say thanks to y'all, the good ZDoom community is what keeps me working on Echo Path and my other works, so cheers! :cheers:
