When I paste from paint to paint, with the same index colors, I have no color loss. It only happens when I go from photoshop to paint, or if I go from true-color paint to 8-bit paint. Not sure if its because I'm using the win 95 version of paint. :P Win7 version of paint is crap, though.

Changing to RGB doesn't fix it. Yes, I do need to stay to Doom's palette. I can change it into RGB for the image to enable layers and stop dithering, but then the image is no longer in doom-palette. When I use Slade to convert the format, It does the same thing with the color loss. I can use PNG, but the then sprites become less useful for software renderer.

Could you give me some samples of problematic images? I'm curious now.

Oh, and it may very well be because you're using the Win95 one. Because while I might be silly here, then for all I know PNG adaption wasn't exactly as good back then as it is today.

Let's take Doom's greys for example, since this is the area where it's the most noticable.

Yeah, you have to convert your RGB image into indexed color, paste into the already-indexed-color image, then undo the conversion to continue work. I have no idea why there's no way to disable the dithering it does otherwise.

May I recommend GraphicsGale for conversion into indexed format? The downside is that it doesn't really support alpha.

As I'm currently remaking the last 4 maps in DE episode 2, I would like some feedback for the layout for DE's maps (both episodes). Generally, I try to avoid linear gameplay, especially my newer maps (E2M3) are completely open to the player as to which path they want to go.

In your opinion, from 1-10 (1= completely non-linear, to 10= completely linear), how would you rate DE's maps?

Also, what are your opinions are the maps flow and difficulty during map progression?

Please answer these for each of the current 2 episodes.

Your feedback will be useful in how I will recreate EP2's later maps and Episode 3.

Wow, didn't notice it's been reinitialized! Awesome news, even though it's not gonna be as big as originally meant to be. Keep up the greak work Eriance!

I knew you had it in you Eriance.

Whatever reason compels us to finish something works fine. You'll feel that much more accomplished once you finish it. Life is achievement. Why not git r' done and knock it out? You might have best wad of all time for all we know!

Keep at it sir. You're doing well.

That's from 2006. Just a little bit outdated.

Here is the latest beta.
