At last, my map is finished. It is fully tested in GZDoom and Zandronum 3.0 both software and hardware modes (It looks better in hardware mode, obviously). It has all difficulty modes. Enjoy and good luck finding the secrets for the BFG.

Download link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8o9s28pnoaema ... e.zip?dl=0
Name: The UAC Ocean Base
Map: 05
Used textures: None, it's vanilla textures.
Credits: Noby for the music (Ocean Deep) and of course, DOOM!
Quote: Too much 3D sectors, demons and water. 7/10.

Does your son use Quake?

Quake is an online virtual reality used by hackers. It is a popular meeting place and training ground, where they discuss hacking and train in the use of various firearms. Many hackers develop anti-social tendencies due to the use of this virtual world, and it may cause erratic behaviour at home and at school.

If your son is using Quake, you should make hime understand that this is not acceptable to you. You should ensure all the firearms in your house are carefully locked away, and have trigger locks installed. You should also bring your concerns to the attention of his school.
Screenshots
Spoiler:
Known Issues
  • One of the polyobject switches seems to like crashing GZDoom. Really not sure why.
  • The brightmaps don't load in Zandronum. Not entirely sure what the issue there is. They work correctly in GZDoom.
  • The liquids don't hurt you in Zandronum. The TERRAIN definitions don't work, and neither does defining the sector damage explicitly in the sector properties window. Does Zandronum 3.0 just not allow swimmable 3D floors to damage you?
  • Software mode technically works, but might have some visual errors now and then, and some of the dark rooms will be really friggin' dark.
  • Some of the sector movement sounds don't loop correctly. Still intend to look into that, but making the map came first.
  • Some of the sector movement sounds are coming out of their control sectors, instead of inside the map. I've already used some workarounds here and there, so this really only leaves the swamp platforms as needing attention.
  • Doesn't really work correctly with Brutal Doom v20, from a cursory test. Seems the monsters it spawns aren't properly getting their TIDs carried over, meaning two areas unlock instantly when they're supposed to force you to kill all the monsters (due to some safeties I put in the scripts for running the map with -nomonsters) and the final boss doesn't play at all like it should (I mean, you can clear it, but not in the intended way). Samsara works great, though! It still shows the secret messages even though I set up the Secret objects to not do that, but that's minor. I suppose I should try Demonsteele at some point, too.
  • The music choice is placeholder. Gonna ask a guy who made some MIDIs I wanna use if I can. Not anymore.
Credits
All custom textures and sound effects were sourced from Quake and its two expansions.
Music is two MIDI adaptations of Quake music by Jay "SilentZora" Reichard (specifically, "Parallel Dimensions" and "Quake Theme"/"Persia Inversion"), and D_BLANK from Turbocharged Arcade (I suppose I'll have to ask Xaser where it came from).

This was a pretty good exercise. Not because I like how it came out (i do not), but because it taught me I work pretty terribly under any sort of time restriction. Lemme know if you can figure out which room was the point where I started rushing it :Y

Alright, this seems to be where everyone is posting their maps. Here's mine

- Name: A Night at the Opera
- Credits: Custom MIDI - "Pas De Deux" by Samuel Barber. Arranged by yours truly. It probably needs a bit of tweaking. I whipped it together in a few hours.

Took me a while, but I finished my map!
Spoiler:
- Download Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8qthy2a6be632nq/WRES.zip?dl=1
- Name: Weapons Research Lab
- Credits: Music is a MIDI of Flash Man's stage from MM2, made by Sword-Bolt. Otherwise, everything is vanilla.
- Quote: "Mapping is both easier and harder than you think it is"

- Most of the lighting was tested in Doom lighting mode, so some areas might lack the ambience they're intended to have.

Now I need to start looking at other people's maps and find out how much they embarrass my own. :D

Title: DUMP TD

Quote: this map was originally going to feature a "core" that was a giant sksnake pillar and you could place the friendly monsters anywhere and there was a short "intro" "map" ( more of a hallway ) that caused the actual map to start like 5 seconds after you hit the exit switch and the map was actually named after that section and the core was called your dick so when you hit the fake exit switch you'd suddenly get a message like "OH NO! YOU DICKS IS BEING INVADED BY THE DEMONS" and then it'd cut to the pillar and another message would be like "<- YOUR DICK" and then another popped under it that said "( man that's nasty why you got it hanging out )"

it didn't take

I'm hoping to update this a bit more during the criticism stage. It's fully playable right now. I'm probably gonna change the music too.

Major Update 7/22/2016

Minor Update 7/23/2016 art pass, balancing (more ammo/health/tweaked monsters), added some more (neon) pillars

this has co-op support AND difficulty levels, people who don't like anything resembling slaughtermap gameplay should play on HMP or lower

and yes this really should be played in OpenGL, unfortunately software mode is buggy as shit with regards to rendering sprites through solid 3D floors

I made a minor update to my map; it now properly sits in the MAP01 slot.

Termin_Dump, I'm getting a lot of missing textures in your map:
Spoiler:
It looks like the Duke3D textures you used aren't included in your WAD. I tried loading the texture pack along with it but that didn't work either. I just an idiot and it's the right thing to do to not include new textures one's map uses? Also, the first secret in the level contains nothing on difficulties below Ultraviolence.

I liked what I played of it, but what with not being able to see half of the textures I'll hold off on saying anything about the map itself.

Guy's I have a problem :( ! I didn't know it at all, but for years I have been hacking. For years I have been:
+ installing software
+ using an AMD processor
+ talking about getting new video card
+ using a computer every day for hours
+ playing quake
Poll
I'm scared of hackers because...
They hack into NASA 5%
They steal things 4%
They are violent sociopaths 4%
They use amphetamines and speed 7%
They help Osama Bin Laden 14%
They're un-American 5%
They smell bad 58%
And apparently that makes me smell really bad! Where do you think I can get help for my hacking problem  ?

Did you load cc4-tex.wad as well? If you did, then I don't know what the problem is, and I'll look into it.

Also, now I'm not sure I did the right thing. Was I meant to include the custom textures in the wad itself?

You know, I miscounted the dates again.

I'm thinking of fixing my map this afternoon

Keep in mind:

I don't have GZDoom

This might be my last map I do (I don't think mapping is for me, to be honest)

I didn't get 7zip like a moron so I don't have GZDoom builder

I only play on my home computer around 2 hours

I might erase the boss room un-exit and just make a room with an exit switch

I am a drawer, not a mapper (look at my avatar, I drew him myself)

I want to play another Anonymous map

And I want the guy below to know he isn't being relevant:
