Re-Doom: Enhanced Evolved

Post by Kinsie »

Oh yeah, I never got around to posting this here, did I?

Basically, it's Doom Enhanced but with Perkristan's animations and sounds, and a bunch of other improvements I forget. I've had it sitting merrily on Something Awful's 2.5D FPS thread for months, but somehow never remembered to releasing it here. So... enjoy!

Download!

Now for another six month wait until I remember to upload it to newstuff. Oh, who am I kidding. That other mod by that one Russian guy has taken all the glory already.

The coding for it is very impressive, I never thought that kind of thing would be possible. That being said, it isn't really entertaining to play.

Your thing looks really cool, and I'm impressed by it as well, but I'm not into mods that just provide eye-candy. You'd have to alter some of the weapons'/monsters' behavior to get ME interested, but I'm sure others will like it. (Excuse me if you DID in fact alter the behavior of the weapons/monsters, I only know about what I saw in the video.)

I tried to keep the gameplay mostly the same, but there's one or two minor changes. I think the main one is that Cybies and Spiderdemons have explosive deaths.

Haha, Yoshi's Cookie music. :laff:

Will be downloading this - I love PK's smooth animations, and I love the gratuitous gore system in this mod. :D

Oh boy have I been waiting for this. :D And it just blows my mind. This mod beats Beautiful Doom on SO many levels! After playing through Scythe 2 I found some bugs or whatever:

1. The chainsaw spews puffs in mid-air.

2. Hell Knights, Cacos AND barons spew red particle blood.

3. The spectre STILL doesn't spawn invisible gibs.

4. Enemies with weapons drops them with twice as much ammuntion than they are supposed too.

5. Enemies don't infight? Nevermind that, they do infight

6. Arch-Viles can't resurrect dead enemies. Again nevermind, they do resurrect. But the one on Scytche 2's level 4 didn't resurrect any enemies in a place filled with deadies...

That's it for now. BTW, this mod ROCKS!

I never got around to fixing this for some reason. I should eventually, though.

Ah yeah, the bug with the death2 state, instead of using a jump. Think I found that, actually. :P

It's been a while since I looked at this, but I'm pretty sure I stuffed everything death related into the Death state this time around. Course, I do all sorts of things in that state (not horrible before you ask... baby, what me and that state do together is magical) so I'm sure something changed somewhere in ZDoom that broke something because nothing can be happy.

Oh, the people I would kill for a in-engine AI debugger.

No fair! I was going to use the "scream and fall into distance" sound for rage! Well, everyone's heard it enough that no one should mind hearing it one more time...

Cool work on everything, looks great!

Any chance there's going to a version of this with reloadable weapons and alt-fires for the default doom weapons?

... any chance I can buy someone off to do that? >.>

Seems like there's no chance in hell it'll ever PROPERLY happen as I've been ghost-chasing something like that.

It'd be my freaking dream doom 1/2 mod.

Guess I should let you know that it's been done atleast five times, then!

Also, for those of you who are complaining about the lack of gameplay changes on a flavor wad...yeah.
