I feel there should've been something about monsters that can revive/spawn more of themselves (in doom terms, an archvile with a raise state (OR THOSE LITERALLY-GODFORSAKEN HEALER IMPS IN HIDEOUS DESTRUCTOR), or a lost soul that spits lost souls), and how that can make for either a dangerous swarmer variant, or an annoying broken monster (if they have enough health or self-replicate fast enough (or if the player simply doesn't have enough explosive weaponry), it can be impossible to kill them faster than they reproduce).
I can't really think of any non-mod examples, though...

There's a monster in one of Quake's mission packs (Scourge of Armagon) which does this to an extent, but they need to consume corpses to do so and I don't think they can consume the corpses of fallen kin. The feature is never really used well, though. I don't remember ever fighting more than five of them at once, and there were rarely any corpses around during the encounters.

Was there a way to get files from domains that were recently down? I remember vaguely reading about things like that.

I need the files linked in the description in this video so bad...

Which is why I didn't talk about that. I did basically touch on what the Gremlin does, with resurrecting a monster as another monster (effectively what the Gremlin does, it just so happens that it's another Gremlin), but self-replicating, or recursively reviving monsters are never used in commercial games. Probably because they would be an absolute nightmare to balance.

This is from a few days ago, but Alfonzo (st. alfonzo on Doomworld) has a thing where any time he makes a typo, he comes up with a definition of the new word. One of the more notable recent bits:
<Xaser> "you gartwhelm!" is a great pseudo-insult.
<Marcaek> "you frad!"
<Alfonzo> is that a word? :o
<Alfonzo> because if it isn't...
* esselfortium revokes Alfonzo's doom community license
<Alfonzo> hahaha
<Alfonzo> frad - verb: to reveal fingers
<Xaser> :D
<Xaser> "QUIT YER FRADDIN' IN MY FACE!"
<Alfonzo> most applicable!
<Xaser> not to be confused with "fraddlin'", of course
<Alfonzo> :p
<esselfortium> confusing fraddin' with fraddlin'? that's a fraddlin'.
<Alfonzo> is that an invitation? D:
<Xaser> D:
<Xaser> essel: you know that's illegal in seven states D:
<Xaser> (... I'm not sure if Texas is one of them)
<Xaser> (this is not helping my case)
<Alfonzo> fraddle - verb: of oars and sticks, to slap the surface of a liquid
<Xaser> :D
<Alfonzo> no more! my brain!

The DAW (host) appears to be an old version of Cakewalk Sonar

The sample player is called Kontakt by Native Instruments

The exactly library loaded into Kontakt in that video is "TheoK Yamaha Pacifica" - the very thing I am looking for (all links in description are dead)

simple google search gave me this:
http://uploaded.net/file/orvmst67

[Edit]and that link was from this page:
http://audioz.info/samples/kontakt-elas ... -free.html

[Edit2] downloaded to check it out, it has a bunch of .NMK files and folders filled with samples in it, so it seems legit. I don't have kontakt myself so I can't test it out though.

Cheers icy! Already have it now. Do you think you can track down his other pack (it's called Yamaha Pacifica X) and perhaps the tutorial project file for Sonar that he also mentioned in the description?

I like how the pinky demon was made with pieces of other animals, kinda like Frankenstein's monster.

Okay, THAT'S impressive. Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm glad the game itself doesn't look like that. Would make it amazingly difficult to make new maps and monsters. :P
