What's going on in the Doom world these days?
Old-timer here, can't remember the last time I posted on these forums. Lots of fond memories of Doom from middle/high school but I kind of lost track during college. It's been almost a decade since then so I'm well out of the loop when it comes to (classic) Doom and especially the ZDoom community. (...

Re: Dr. Sleep has died.
Dr. Sleep's guide for Doom Builder was how I first learned to make levels. RIP

Re: How big is the doom modding comunity?
The thing I like about Doom modding is that it's really easy to whip up a map and blast through it a few times in a day, or if you really want to get fancy there's plenty of scripting and support for advanced features in case you want to make, say, System Shock 3. It's easy to get into and more powe...

Prodigal Son
Strange to be back here after so long (again). What's been going on in the ZDoom community in the meantime? Caught a glimpse of the drama thread, what about big projects/releases/etc.? Also I'm working on a little thing of mine, something a little left-field for Doom. It's mostly based on exploring ...

Re: People's first experience with DOOM
My first experience with Doom was way back in 1995 or so. Sometimes I would stay at my babysitter's house, and her son would let me watch him play Doom. I remember thinking the imps' snorting noises were really really scary.

Re: What are you listening to?
Now what the heck. (Nadja - Radiance of Shadows (Full), if you're interested.) Never been much into this, but yet, something compels me to listen this. :S That's a really great album! If you're interested in drone/doom metal at all I highly recommend Black One by Sunn O))) (though White 1 and White...

Re: Programming style in ZDoom
I think I made a map once where the entire ACS script was on one line
Anyway I wish I had the mental fortitude to do this for all my levels

I have a Mac because I wanted to use my $500 Apple gift card. So :VVVVVVVXtyfe wrote:Not to bash macs, but paying extra money to use windows programs on an already overpriced computer seems silly.

Re: Mac Level Editor?
Ok so I downloaded all those files, now I have no idea what to do... CodeLite won't let me compile, not that I really know where to start anyway. Obviously programming isn't my strong suit... Any ideas?

Mac Level Editor?
Anyone know good map editing tools for Mac OSX? The only one I can find is Hellmaker but it seems pretty dead. I tried downloading the SLADE SVN and compile it myself but mancubus.net is down.... any suggestions?
