Sigil not doing any damage?

Post by stridervm »

Hi, I have noticed while playing Strife, in MAP 16, where you are required to kill the Bishop, and I remember that after killing the bishop and the flying cloud thingy appears you would need to use the Sigil to kill it and get another part of the sigil, and it seems that no matter how much I tried, I cannot kill that thing.

Then I tried just using the sigil against any normal monster, it seems that the Sigil in my game does not hurt monsters in any way, shape or form. I remember in the DOS version that it nearly destroyed everything in my path if I used it.

I'm using version 2.0.98 of Zdoom.

I tried searching the forums for any reports or any similar bugs but I found nothing. I thought it was such a common bug which i near impossible to be missed. Or perhaps there were other things involved....

Wow, that's actually really odd. I just tested this and as it turns out, the first piece of the sigil is now broken in .98! It works fine in .96 but using it on any monster or creature at all won't do anything. Every other sigil piece works fine except the first one.

Probabally the fact it has a lack of horizontal momentum. Horizontal momentum is required for a thing to do damage, IIRC.

The bug has already been fixed but as we all know Randy doesn't release new updates as often as we'd like. ;)

Just use .96 until the next release. It's only messed up in .98

The recent ZDoom versions are pretty useless, aren't they? :(

Sad to say, yes. I'm sticking with .96 until the next stable release.

Why not .96x? If anyone did there'd be much more motivation for Randy to update.

I have them both, just in seperate folders. I seem to have a notion of associating weapons decorate with 96x while doing everything else with .96
(habitual I guess?)

Why not do everything with 96x? They're the same except 96x has the new weapons and inventory, right? I haven't even downloaded 98. I'm just using 96x.

@ Da Spadger: Just call down the console while facing it and type in "mdk". That should kill it instantly and give you the next piece.

It didn't work at all for me, and when i loaded the game, my sigil was gone. How the heck could it disappear just like that?

EDIT: Hmmz, it is there, i just can't change to it.

It's already been fixed, but there's no new version to take advantage of this:
