[98]Map Item Count Changes When "Give All" Is Used

Post by Deathlike2 »

This is not a significant bug.. but it exists anyhow..

This affects only Heretic and Hexen (including the Hexen expansion)..

For some reason, when using the "Give All" console cheat, it increases the item count for a map.

This is not as obvious.. but try that on E1M1 in Heretic. Complete the level normally.. it says "# / 4" for items.. When you use the "Give All" console cheat and complete the map, it says "#/ 14"...

This occurs in Hexen as well... and although you don't really need to keep track of the items... it is somewhat annoying (I don't know whether you would use/keep track of this info on a map designed with the item count in mind.. but if this option is available or used on any map, then it should be fixed.)

This bug is more visible in GZDoom as the alternate HUD keeps track of the number of items on the map whereas ZDoom doesn't appear to have that stat in the automap.

Note: In Heretic, "Give All" increases the item count by 10.
In Hexen, "Give All" increases the item count by 8.

That's not really surprising. The items *are* newly spawned after all. On the other hand, several similar occurences in the code have this fixed .

BTW, ZDoom does have this stat. You can enable it with 'am_showitems' and it will be with the others on the automap.

You shouldn't expect accurate stats if you are cheating...
