A Mummy in Heretic trying to attack a volcano...

Is this allowed to happen?

Depends. Did the volcano call the mummy names or something?

Graf, I'm used to seeing bug reports from you that are a bit difficult to figure out or fix. But this is just a new level of "What in the name of God are you talking about?"

I think it was clear what I said. I saw a mummy attack a volcano. Nothing more, nothing less.

When a bug report comes from Graf, that's bad. That's really bad.

Most likely it did. But I didn't see that happen. Still, a monster shouldn't attack an object it can't hurt.

I always thought it was that way but after looking at the code that sets the monster's target to the originator of a missile doesn't check whether the attacker can be attacked itself.

Erm, if a monster can't attack something and knows it, and therefore doesn't, then whats to stop them giving up on invulnerable characters or stopping them going after healthless hate targets?

@Graf: O.K. I got it now, the mummy attacked the volcano because the volcano hit the mummy with a projectile. That makes a bit more sense. Obviously this sort of thing shouldn't happen, monsters should not attack targets that would normally not be attackable.

@Phobus: AFAIK invulnerable characters still have heath. In fact I'm almost sure thay do, how else would a baphomet cube kill them. As for healthless hate targets, an exception in the code may have to be made for that, if the sort of thing doesn't already exist.

He said things that can't be attacked. Technically invulnerable things can't be attacked, can they?

They can be attacked, but they can't be damaged. There's a big difference there.

They can: Projectiles with +FOILINVUL can hurt invulnerable beings.
