A thing should move with another thing

Post by The NUtcracker »

In other words, lets say there is, for some reason, you are standing on top of a cacodemon. As it moves up and down, so do you, but if it moves horizontally, you don't move with it and you will fall off. This seems very unrealistic, and i think should be added.

I have this weird feeling that this will be very hard to incorporate.
... But I have this feeling that if it would be added, there'd actually be a good deal of ideas getting thrown in. I had this one idea to throw the player on a low-speed, small plane fighting off enemies in the air. Instead of building the plane in a map editor, maybe now a Thing could be used -- and even controlled.
Oh, think of the dogfighting this will cause in multiplayer. :3

ED: If it seems somewhat lost in mind and/or hard to understand, forgive me, I cannot sleep well for the life of me.

*** preemptive [no] and note about how awful the physics code is (optional: this has been discussed before comment) ***

Edit: Well, I guess it's only partly preemptive...

Yeah, it would certainly be nice. Too bad though that an actor doesn't have any information about what it carries.

Very clever, Isle! This will be useful for my sidescroller platformer. ;)

(You seem to be making a lot of huge appearances in my credits lately. ;))

I forget which site it was, but some Doom related site or other uses it for their 404 error page. I have a copy...

This is pretty awesome, although a few comments in the script would be nice.

Strange, it seems to only work with the cacodemon.
