Superball 2 (last update 20 Feb 2007)

Post by Matt »

Update 20 Feb 2007:
Just an upload of the version with the originally intended explosions now that we have binaries of the new SVN available.

Update 23 Jan 2007 (actually added on the 21st):
  • Weapon switching now much faster.
  • Player/superball speeds a bit closer, better reflecting gameplay from the older Superball (see below).
Update 15 Jan 2007: New variant wads included in package! In descending order of non-crapitude:
  • superball2.wad: The one with all the fancy new GZDoom stuff.
  • superball_t.wad: The one with only the superball itself defined in DECORATE.
  • suprball.wad: The one with only DEHACKED definitions.
  • superbzd.wad: The one with only DEHACKED definitions and no item replacements. Use only where necessary.
Download here.
The premise is simple: You have only one weapon, the Superball, which acts like a rocket launcher with infinite ammo. One is often enough to kill someone. If you are (un)lucky enough to hit two together, they explode in a huge and horrible mess. Everything else is just for colour.

Superball has several player classes. They are essentially identical besides the graphics. If you don't like what you have and Drop Weapons is on, you can track down someone who has something better and kill them and take it!

That's odd... can you tell me exactly what happens?

If you're just getting vanilla Doom, you'll have to extract the two wads from the rar, and they're two separate mods that can't be run at the same time (and AFAIK ZDoom can't read rars anyway).

If you're crashing after a few deaths, that's normal.

Will try it as soon as I get back from the New Years party (which should be sometime in the next 2 days haha); I actually have a "New DooM-Related Stuff" Folder where I download new stuff for DooM to try, and your WAD is the only one that's in there right now.

I'm using the Community Build. Should I use something else?

geedougg: Ack, that's right... you know you need to get out more often when you keep forgetting people are on holidays XD

Osiris: Good to hear it's still fun in singleplayer. :D

XutaWoo: I haven't tested this with anything except 2.1.7.

EDIT: ...how did this thread get from 100-something to over 1500 views within the past 24 hours? o_O

Your title probably sounded interesting to them. It is similar to the one of the topic titles that Galaxy Stranger made, but I won't say because it is a bit inappropriate.

I see your point.

I'm still surprised though that over 90% of the views would be from the past day or so...

::searches Galaxy_Stranger's posts:: You refer to the xenomorph sound one I take it?

EDIT: Just added provisional dynamic lights to see how it'd look. (needs lights.wad to work)

If he's using custom classes, then he's probably using 99x..Still, though..upgrade man.

If ajustable mass was possible i'd have already made a smash brothers Doom. Shame ajustable mass will be NO'd if I dare suggest it because... well... why would anyone use it but me?

I could probably think of a couple of reasons why I would use adjustable mass.
