Yes and it didn't really help much.Graf Zahl wrote:Have you ever bothered to check the automap? It contains a few nice little hints to naviagate the mines.
Lets take E1M1 for example. Not only did I go straight through it, but you people even took what used to be secret areas and made them a part of the map's only path. Its pretty much straight through. Go straight here and get this switch. Go straight back. Go straight there to get this. Come straight back. One path.Graf Zahl wrote:Ok, good to know that your definition of linear is not what the general opinion is.
I am aware my definition may be different from some other people, but to me it was as I said: It felt like linear trying to be nonlinear and failing to do so.
I define it has doing missions in a specific order, where to move to a new point, you must complete a previous objective. In games like GTA, I prefer to do my own thing than play the missions.jallamann wrote:Linear: One or extremely few possible routes from start to finish. Little or no digression from the main goal. That's only my little opinion though.
So in context of KDiZD, do you have to complete an objective before moving to the next map, or is it one giant world that you can freely move through at your own will?

Absolutely incredible.
Very nice interpretations of the original maps, almost Doom 3-like atmosphere in places. I felt an odd twinge of familiarity whenever I entered a new room.
Also, monster placement was spot-on. Whoever was responsible for that really knew where and when to place the monsters to make them fun to kill. Although, I must say that whoever decided not to give those shadow imps a Seesound should be shot.
Taking a dive into the acid to find secrets was a total blast.
One thing I didn't like (And this is just me, not the map itself) was how all the old secrets were removed. I got pissed when I hit that switch in M2 and got "This switch is broken, n00b!"
Another thing that disappointed me was the music. How come none of you on the KDiZD team were able to make some midi or mod remixes to complement the map remixes?
I'm on Map 4 right now, and I'm loving every minute of it.
By the way: Lamneth, if all those things bother you (most of which are actually positive points for myself and other people), I'll venture to say that you're simply not part of the target audience.

1) Whose voice is in the TITLEMAP?
2) What program is the final Chthon-like boss rendered in?
3) Who made the spinning demon cube sprites? Are they rendered or hand-drawn?
4) I looked inside the PK3 and saw a Romero-like head, expect it isn't Romero. Whose face is that? It's darn creepy.
5) I think I remember the final level fight not starting for some reason. After defeating Vader's new bruiser brothers and going to that thingy at the distance, the stairs never raise, eventhough the ground breaks apart and the boss's health bar is displayed. Anyone experienced this?

It's from the doom radio advertisement, no idea who did the voice acting.Nash wrote:1) Whose voice is in the TITLEMAP?
Both rendered by NMN/Paul/Banemeyer, you should ask himNash wrote:2) What program is the final Chthon-like boss rendered in?
