I always feel kinda surprised when people request other music support.

Isn't it easier to get goldwave or something-record the song and convert it to mp3 or ogg? And then put it into the wad?

That doesn't automatically mean it's been permanently working 24/7 since then, though.

Meh, I don't recall the server going down since then, but whatever.

Well, personally, I'm kinda working on a little project that would make good use of using some .gsf music files, both for their excessively small size, and their infinite repeating. Not to mention, they fit in with said project. But meh, looks like I'll probably end up doing that anyways.

Edit: Yeah, I probably won't need anything like that anymore, considering I just found out that there's a WinAmp plugin that allows you to record any song directly to MP3, and that can be converted to OGG. Well then.

Support for the Wolfenstein music format would be useful too. I know some of them are available in midi format but not all of them. I haven't found a decent program to convert them into midis either. This format (IIRC) would also include the Blake Stone music and the Commander Keen music too. Maybe Corridor 7, Operation Bodycount...

But I'm not going to hold my breath. I'm sure it would have a low priority, if any priority at all.

Enjay: Most older Apogee games that utilized an AdLib compatible sound card uses the IMF format. I think. If you want to play the music without playing the game, there's AdPlug for Winamp... I use it to dig Major Stryker music ;)

What is WinAmp like these days? I stopped using it when version 3.whatever came out. Up to version 2.something was fine but all of a sudden it became a horrible, clunky slow program with all sorts of features that were hard to turn off and which were resource hogs, slowing things down. It was like it was trying to be like Real Player or something. I don't particularly fancy re-installing if that's the case. I'll stick with things like Media Player Classic instead.

I don't suppose the AdPlug can allow conversion to midis can it? I assume writing to WAVs would be easy enough with it.

I still use Winamp 2.95... Never liked 3 and 5...

And, no, AdPlug doesn't allow any conversion, just playback.

I'm using WinAmp 5.09 and I'm not having any problems with it. It does what it is supposed to do: play music files.

Musicmatch 8.0[h4x3d] :P *gets ready for Musicmatch hater flames*
And Enjay, once you get the file playing, you can use something like FlexiMusic Wave Editor to record right from your speakers and save the file. That's what I do for sound files I can't convert.

If you set Winamp's output plugin to the Wave Writer plugin, you can dump audio from anything - even AdPlug. And it still works in the 2.x series.

I downloaded Winamp 5.09 and 2.95. First I tried 5.09 and it seemed to work but I closed it and restarted. I couldn't get it to work again - it just crashed every time I started it. I uninstalled, restarted my machine, installed 2.95 and got the same problem. With both versions, I got the following info from Microsoft.
Error caused by Nullsoft Inc.: No specific solution found

So I guess no IMF playing for me. :(

[edit]Oh, how Ironic. I removed the adplug plug in and Winamp started working. So I can get winamp, but no IMFs. :x Anyone hook me up with a version of the plug-in that works under XP? [/edit]

[edit2]S'Okay, I got another version and got it working. :) [/edit2]
